OV WEEKLY: It's Our Birthday Week!!!

In case you didn't know, OV's 5-year birthday is this week. Which means everyone at the shop is frantically trying to figure out what you buy a 5 year old. Seriously we have no idea. We do have the party nailed down though, and you better be there!

Monday, March 31st (that's today!)
Kaiser Chiefs Album Premiere Party! OV Presents Moses Sumney @ The Bootleg!

Tonight at 6PM we're keeping the hits coming with another premiere party! Tonight's edition features the new Kaiser Chiefs album Education, Education, Education & War out on ATO Records! Now six records in, Kaiser Chiefs might seem like a band easing into a middle age groove, but this Leeds quintet has never been content with the status quo. Exploring new thematic and sonic environments as only Kaiser Chiefs can do, Education, Education, Education & War cements their ever-present innovative spirit. We're super stoked to be premiering the album before its release and hope you can come join us for some awesome new music!

Next up, Origami is super-stoked to be presenting rising L.A singer-songwriter Moses Sumney's LAST SET at the Bootleg Theatre tonight at 9PM! A UCLA alum, Moses' craft is a intoxicating mix of soul and folk arranged around liquid guitar lines and unique looped arrangements. Popping up as a special guest for many soon-to-be-big bands, Moses has been receiving glowing reviews across the board without a single physical release to his name, and looks to be moving up in the L.A music world. With talent to spare, Moses' residency at the Bootleg is sure to be a breakout success and we look forward to seeing him and you there one last time! Give a listen to a live performance of "Replaceable" and we'll see you tonight!

Tuesday, April 1st
New Releases Make The World Go 'Round! 45 Night @ Record Club!

March madness continues with the new releases and this week we've got two heavy-hitters coming in the shop -- Mac DeMarco's Salad Days and Cloud Nothing's Here And Nowhere Else! Both albums are already getting awesome press and look to be heavy sellers, so you better get down to the shop as soon as you can Tuesday to secure your copy! Also, if you missed either the Manchester Orchestra or Kaiser Chiefs Premiere Party, we've still got their records in the shop for you aural pleasure!

And as always, Record Club returns at El Prado tonight at 9PM! Because it's the first Record Club of the month, that means we'll be spinning your favorite 45s all night! To make the deal even sweeter, our friends in Saintseneca will be stopping by to hang out and spin some records of their own. It's gonna be a damn good time!

Wednesday, April 2nd
Last Chance to Snag OV 5 Year Party Tickets!

Tomorrow night is going to be absolutely killer. OV is gonna be 5 years old, and like any 5 year old, we're gonna celebrate by dancing until we pass out. The lineup is absolutely stacked and we really hope you can make it to celebrate half a decade with us! We're gonna be absolutely giddy in the shop all day, so come witness our silliest happy faces and snag a ticket before the show sells out!

Thursday, April 3rd
OV IS FIVE! OV IS FIVE! WHEE!

Neil has written a novel about this day in our 5 year zine that'll be at tonight's show, but here's a sneak peek:

"To All My High Fivers Out There! Unreal to think this shop has lasted 5 years come April 3rd! Honestly, I never thought we’d get here. Not because I didn’t believe in what we were doing, it was just that doing anything for 5 years seemed nearly impossible to me. I’ve never done anything for that long. What started out of some high school dream, that became more of a distant fantasy throughout my 20’s, and was born out of desperation, a need of change, and some wild serendipity, turned into the foundation of what Origami is today.

Once the doors opened on April 3rd, 2009, reality sank in. In less than 5 months me and some friends were able to build the shop and stock it with music. Then you guys started coming and helping us to evolve and grow it into what it is today, 5 years later. I am so grateful to all of you for helping me realize my dream. Thank you! So enough with the sappy stuff. LET’S PARTY! HIGH FIVE!"

Seriously, tonight is gonna be awesome, and we would love to see you all there. Check out the poster below and clear out your calendar for a night of pure OV awesome-sauce. See you there!

Friday, April 4th
Heathers In-Store!

OV doesn't stop, even for a 5 year anniversary, so tonight we're gonna have L.A-locals Heathers up in our loft at 7PM! Self-described as "miserablist guitar-pop," this trio mixes jangly guitars and fuzzed out pedal-rock to create sickly sweet pop tunes that'll have you reaching for both your anorak and your scuffed up Docs. Their newest single "Fear" just came out a few weeks ago and is an absolute gem that we can't wait to see them perform it in our loft. Along with everything else they've made. We see big things for these dudes, so it'd be a good idea to come see them tonight at 7PM!

Saturday, April 5th
The Lures In-Store!

Tonight at 7PM, we've got Washington group The Lures up in our loft! This Washington group blends surf rock, garage rock, and elements of 60's psychedelic rock to make their own unique and awesome sound. Their latest single, "22nd", takes the band in a slightly different direction with a 10 minute piece, combines elements of post-rock and soft, chant-like vocals. Whatever their sound, we stoked to have them perform their chill surf tunes and and catchy guitar riffs all night long. So come on down to OV tonight give these guys a warm Southern Californian welcome!

Now that we've planned your week, we can't wait to PARTY WITH YOU!!!!

PREMIERE PARTY: Kaiser Chiefs "Education, Education, Education & War" TONIGHT @ 6PM!

Case in point: 2011's The Future is Medieval gave listeners the ability to choose the final track listing and art work. While their newest album has been compiled directly by the band, their innovative spirit hasn't ceased with Education, Education, Education & War which has the band exploring new thematic and sonic environments as only Kaiser Chiefs can do. We're super stoked to be premiering the album before its release and hope you can come join us for some awesome new music!

So set yourself a reminder, ditch the Netflix for a night, and come on down to OV tonight at 6PM! To get yourself prepared, give a listen to Education...'s  single "Coming Home" below. See you soon!

Moses Sumney

Moses Sumney:
Moses Sumney is a new LA-based singer & songwriter. Growing up, he was so shy that he would write songs avidly but hide them inside his mattress. At 20, he moved out of his parents' house to study creative writing at UCLA and finally gathered the courage to start performing music. After purchasing a beat-up guitar from a friend, he taught himself to play and accompany himself. He grew quickly as an artist at UCLA, soon performing weekly alongside the university's most esteemed musicians. Now graduated, he creates soul-infused folk music using guitar and unique arrangements built on loop pedals. Recently, SPIN Magazine described him as a "soul-folk warrior," Okayplayer called him "a name you should be hearing plenty of," and Pigeons & Planes called his voice a "breathing instrument that suggests a depth of feeling lyrics can only partially express."All of this, and he hasn't even officially released any music yet.

While you wait for tonight to roll around, check out Moses' song "Replaceable" below and stop on by the Bootleg Theatre every Monday this March. We'll see you there!

PREMIERE PARTY: Manchester Orchestra "Cope" TOMORROW @ 1PM!

Yes you heard that right -- OV's having a Premiere Party BRUNCH tomorrow at 1PM! To go along with our afternoon meal, we're gonna be playing Manchester Orchestra's new album before its release this Tuesday!

Titled Cope, Manchester Orchestra's fourth album is a new page for the alt-rock quintet. After the release of Simple Math in 2011, the Atlanta band found themselves in between labels, uncertain of Manchester Orchestra’s future for the first time since Hull started the band almost a decade ago. So Manchester Orchestra regrouped. They built a studio with their own hands, and spent month after month workshopping new tunes, writing and demoing together in a room -- a process that was completely new for them. The change did them good and Cope is the product of that change.

To make our premiere party even better, our friends and neighbors over at Taza will be providing a wonderful spread of coffee and pastries! They've been serving our favorite cuppa for about a year now and have become our go-to spot when we need a caffeine fix. We love Taza and know they'll put tomorrow's party over the edge!

So come on down to OV tomorrow "morning" at 1PM for an awesome afternoon of music and food. To whet your appetite, give a listen to Cope's first single "Top Notch" below. See you soon!

IN-STORE: Alex Theodoropulos Art Show TONIGHT @ 7PM!

We're very proud and excited to be displaying Alex Theodoropulos' amazing art in our store tonight from 7-9PM!

While you might not recognize Alex's name, if you've seen Thee Oh Sees newest music video for "The Lens" then you've definitely been intimate with his work. A visual artist of a dizzying degree, Alex's trippy visuals and color palette perfectly translated the sound of Thee Oh Sees newest single last week, catching the eye of music and art blogs everywhere. While that video specifically mined 60s poster art aesthetics and surrealist landscapes, Alex other visual work also follows the hypnotic scenes of "The Lens," capturing the mind and eye all at once. We can't get enough of him here at OV, and are also pleased to announce that he is our new tote bag design winner! You can check out the artwork below, and the new OV tote bag will be available in May.

So stop by for a great night of art and music tonight at 7PM! As always, drinks and snacks will be provided -- all that's needed is you! While you wait for tonight to roll around, check out Alex's art in the "The Lens" music video below!

PREMIERE PARTY: Saintseneca "Dark Arc" - Thursday, March 27 - 7 PM

We're really excited to be hosting a last minute premiere party for Saintseneca's album, Dark Arc, out on ANTI-!! If you're headed to their show at the Echo tomorrow night, stop by Origami at 7 pm for some free pizza and beverages. We'll be playing the album in full, giving away tickets to their show, AND the band will be hanging out! If you can't make it tomorrow night, the band will also be joining us at Record Club on April 1st for 45 night!

ANTI- says: "The band is led by singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist Zac Little who originally hails from rural Appalachia. Following in the footsteps of heartland bands who have sought to twist the music of the old weird America into new shapes – from the Violent Femmes to Neutral Milk Hotel – Saintseneca perform songs that sound both familiar and uniquely original. The group utilizes a wide range of acoustic instrumentation with more contemporary elements such as synthesizers and electric guitars to create a seamless blend of soaring vocals and vibrant post-punk energy."

And my favorite quote from Pitchfork, "bandleader Zac Little writes stompy folk songs that are more artfully crafted than all the bands you probably just thought of when you read the words 'stompy folk songs.'”

Check out their song "Happy Alone" and get stoked for tomorrow night!

IN-STORE: Doomsquad TONIGHT @ 7PM!

Hailing from Toronto/Montreal, the trio that makes up Doomsquad specializes in captivating a dreamy, trance-like sound. Mixing with that with thick percussion, synth sounds, and eclectic instruments; the eerie blends of harmonies, and chanting vocals, make for a great performance that is not one to be missed. Just having finished a tour accross Germany, Paris, London, and Amsterdam, the trio is back in the West and ready to astound their fans with more psychedelic and experimental music. Their release in November of 2013 is the hypnotizing "Ovoo // The Cools" single - which is a perfectly beautiful and creepy blend of songs. This release was just a sneak preview of their anticipated 2014 album, Kalaboogie. Known for their interesting on-stage performance art involving things like chicken wire and plastic sheeting, their live performance is a must-see. So take a break from life and come down to Origami tonight to experience the entrancing and captivating ride Doomsquad will take you on.

In the meantime, be sure to take a listen to the band's single, "Ovoo" off their newest album Kalaboogie. See you tonight!

TONIGHT: Belle Brigade "Just Because" Premiere Party @ 5 pm!

TONIGHT! We're stoked to premiere Belle Brigade's sophomore album, Just Because, out on ATO Records. We'll have some pizza and drinks for you as well as some signed 7"s to give away! Last month the duo played all month to a huge crowd at the Echo so we're stoked to hear the full album. Come at 5 pm for a pre-dinner snack and start your Monday off right.

Here's what The Echo had to say about the talented duo:

"Founded by siblings Barbara and Ethan Gruska, The Belle Brigade’s music is artfully arranged, with enticing melodies and pop harmonies, fueled by the interplay of driving rhythms between Barbara’s drums and Ethan’s guitars. Both are gifted songwriters – finding inspiration in the works of Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, The Beach Boys, Sly Stone, Harry Nilsson and countless others."

The Belle Brigade’s self-titled debut (co-produced with Matthew Wilder) was hailed as one of the best albums of 2011 by PASTE. Ann Powers, writing for the Los Angeles Times, took note of the “memorable voices and considerable charisma within songs that gleam with hooks and pour over with earnest emotion” while Newsday praised the album’s “sun-kissed ’70s SoCal sound” and SPIN observed, “The brother and sister team from LA, bring beautiful harmonies to their quirky folk rock.”

IN-STORE: Seahaven TONIGHT @ 5PM!

Tonight at 5pm, we're super excited to have Seahaven in our loft for a live performance!

Started in 2009, Seahaven consist of four friends from right here in Southern California. Their post-punk indie style can be compared to the likes of bands like Brand New and Tigers Jaw, while their style ranges range from youthful carefree songs to somber and intense melodies. Needless to say, they're going to put on a great show and we can't wait for them to bring their youthful energetic energy to our shop. With nothing but great reviews for their former album Ghost (2010), their growing fan base can't wait for more.
With that said, we're stoked to learn that they're relaesing their next full length album, Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only, on March 25 on Run For Cover Records. This record is sure to be a treat and we can't wait for it's release considering it was and produced by Seahaven's own Kevin Soto, and mixed and engineered by Ben Brodin (Bright Eyes, Pete Yorn).

So get ready for a night of post-punk perfection, and in the meantime be sure to check out "Silhouette (Latin Skin)" - the single off Seahaven's forthcoming album Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only.

See you tonight at 5!

IN-STORE: Coldair TONIGHT @ 7PM!

Tonight at 7PM we've got Poland's very own Coldair performing in our loft!

Centered on the work of multi-instrumentalist Tobiasz Biliński, Coldair features an eclectic mix of inspirations that range from ambient computer soundscapes to large scale brass orchestras. Bringing all of these elements together in a art-pop form, Coldair is both eminenantly listenable and thoroughly experimental. We last saw Coldair in 2012 as part of Culture Collide, but tonight, Coldair is back in L.A as part of his new U.S tour! Dropping by at 7PM, we are absolutely stoked to revisit Coldair and see what magic he'll bring to the stage!

So come on by the store tonight and join us for some great music and good times! For a sneak peek at Coldair's sound, give a listen to his 2014 track "In The Nether" below!

IN-STORE: Son Of The Velvet Rat TONIGHT @ 7PM!

OV is very excited to have Son Of The Velvet Rat tonight in our loft! This talented group masters the art of Eurpoean folk music that encaptivates listeners with poetic lyrics. Behind this powerful music is Georg Altziebler along with his wife Heike Binder. The talented pair were very busy in 2013 as they released two albums, adding to the several albums already on their discography. Their dark-European folk music has a beautiful cathartic feel that is especially exemplified in their new album, Firedancer. This album has a lot to do with all the feelings that come with the loss of a loved one, so needless to say, it's a great album that'll for sure take you on an emotional journey. Also, the couple recently relocated to Southern California and are now spending their time between Los Angeles and Yucca Valley, so we can't wait to give them a warm welcome.

So come in tonight and relax for a bit, but in the meantime check out the first song on their new album. Hope to see you tonight!

PREMIERE PARTY: "Bob Dylan In The 80s" Tribute Album Premiere Party TONIGHT @ 7PM!

Tonight at 7PM, we're gonna be premiering ATO Records' newest tribute compilation Bob Dylan In The 80s: Volume One a week before it hits stores!

Now we know "Dylan in the 80s" might be the best way to elicit cringes from Dylan fans, but for some Dylan-ites, the singer-songwriter's flirtation with new styles in his "lost" decade represent a hotbed of forgotten gems. Headed by producers Jesse Lauter (Elvis Perkins, The Low Anthem) and Sean O’Brien (Dawes, PAPA), the mission of Bob Dylan In The 80s: Volume One is to shed new light on this large cache of songs and ideas Dylan explored in this period. Featuring covers by a wide range of alt stars including Built To Spill, Aaron Freeman of Ween, Glen Hansard, Reggie Watts, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and more, this newest compilation from ATO is sure to open a new page in Dylan lore and we couldn't be more excited to play it for you a week before its release!

So come on down tonight at 7PM for a great night of music and rediscovery, because we totally know you haven't ever taken Saved seriously. As always, pizza and drink will be had all round, and as a special treat, we'll be slinging some Dylan later in the night at Record Club. It's gonna be a great evening and we really hope to see you there! For a sneak peek of Tuesday's preview (yes a preview of a preview), give a listen to Built To Spill's cover of "Jokerman" below! See you soon!

It's gonna be a great evening and we really hope to see you there! For a sneak peek of Tuesday's preview (yes a preview of a preview), give a listen to Built To Spill's cover of "Jokerman" below! See you soon!

TONIGHT: FYF & Cinefamily Present Breadcrumb Trail (Slint) w/Neil DJing!

Neil says:

"In 1995 I was in my sophomore year in college. At that point I was mainly into heavy metal and alternative music. Tool, Faith No More, and Smashing Pumpkins were some of my faves. I had also started to discover hardcore music thanks to my roommate who played me Minor Threat, Swiz, Judge, and Fugazi. With those genres all coming together I had discovered and became a fan of a band called Helmet. I liked them, but wasn't a super fan. One thing they did have though was a very active chat room community on the internet. Each night while procrastinating my studies I would log on and talk to people about music. It became a daily obsession and I would learn so much about new underground bands that spanned all genres. One day a person mentioned a band called SLINT. I had never heard of them, and neither had most people in the chat room. But this person was swearing by them. A couple weeks later I flew out to Colorado to spend a week with my parents. We stopped off at a Best Buy and I headed straight for the music section while my parents were shopping. I decided to go look for this Slint band (mind you this was before things like youtube and streaming music online so I couldn't just listen to this music. I had to either buy it on CD or go to a store where they would let you listen before buying). Low and behold Best Buy had Slint's CD for "Spiderland" (which is crazy in hindsight that Best Buy even had indie music much less an obscure band's CD). I bought it with such excitement I couldn't wait to get in the car and give it a listen. We left the store and my parents put the CD in. After the 3rd song I was extremely confused. "What is this?!" I thought. It was kind of bumming me out actually. I was ready for riffs or some more formulaic form of music I had been used too. This was weird. No real traditional song structures. Spoken word over sporadic drumming and mountains and valleys of volume. I think we shut it off after the fourth song. I didn't know how to take it.

A couple weeks later I was back at school studying. I decided to throw the CD back on in my Discman, put on my headphones and give it another shot with undivided attention. It is then that I started to understand the approach. I was hooked. I was obsessed. It broke down everything I understood about how music was created, recorded, represented, and distributed. It opened up a huge can of worms for me. The radio was boring, MTV was bullshit, underground independent music was really where it was at. From there I became obsessed with Touch and Go, Jade Tree, Dischord, Sub Pop, and other small labels. I started going to so many more underground shows and I started buying 7"s from all the bands playing. I bought a record player and would go down to Rhino Records in Claremont and Bionic Records in Fullerton on a weekly basis. Most importantly, I starting taking music business classes in college that would lead to a career in the industry.

Slint was that band for me. They're records amaze me and surprise me to this day.

Over the weekend I was asked by my good buds Sean and Bennett over at FYF if I wanted to DJ at Slint's event on Wednesday knowing about this story and my fandom. It's come full circle for me and I couldn't be more excited.

If you can, please join me tonight at The Silent Movie Theater for Cinefamily's screening of "Breadcrumb Trail" a documentary about Slint that will feature a Q&A session with the Director, Lance Bangs, members of Slint and David Yow (Jesus Lizard). This will be a night I remember for the rest of my life."

OV WEEKLY: Daylight Savings Time Means MORE OV!

So the time changes and then all of a sudden its summer weather in L.A? Props to Mother Nature for that convenient change, now we have time to spin records and get our tan on! We suggest you do the same and come on down to Origami this week while the sun lasts!

Monday, March 10th (that's today!)
Dead Ghosts In-Store! OV Presents Moses Sumney @ The Bootleg! Tony Molina @ The Echo!

Today's a doozy by OV standards, as we've got our eyes on three sets of music coming your way throughout the afternoon and night. Check 'em all out below!

First off, tonight at 6PM, we've got an awesome set from Dead Ghosts lined up! An OV favorite for a while now, their newest record, Can't Get No (Burger Records), was one of our favorite records of 2013 and is the perfect soundtrack for too-hot March nights. Featuring fuzzed out vocals and plenty of 60s garage influences, the band syncs up with just about any punk rock activity you can think of and we hope you can stop by to engage in some with us tonight at 6! In the meantime, give a listen to their track "Summer With Phil" below!

Next up, Origami is super-stoked to be presenting rising L.A singer-songwriter Moses Sumney at the Bootleg Theatre every Monday in March! With talent to spare, Moses' residency at the Bootleg is sure to be a breakout success and we look forward to seeing him and you there every Monday this March! Give a listen to a live performance of "Replaceable" and we'll see you tonight at 9PM!

In case that wasn't enough, tonight at The Echo, the super-talented Tony Molina will be gracing the world with a face-melting solo set for FREE! If you haven't heard us gush about his latest album Dissed and Dismissed (which happens to be available for pre-order here), then just know that Tony's newest LP is a loving tribute to the 90s that takes Thin Lizzy leads, Radiohead lyrics, and Replacements sneer to their most absurd highs. It is an entirely unapologetic album that distills the best of the past in 12 less-than-a-minute bursts. We've been stoked on this show since it was announced and really hope to see you there at 8PM!

Tuesday, March 11th
Slint Documentary Breadcrumb Trail @ Cinefamily! Record Club!

We love Slint. To the point where we can't say anything intelligent, especially in regards to Lance Bangs' newest documentary on the post-rock gods. So here's Cinefamily's preview of the show while we drool a little more:

Two definitive epochs mark underground rock of the last few decades: BS (Before Slint) and AS (After Slint). A staple of the Louisville, KY scene before their 1990 album Spiderland definitively laid down the gauntlet and provided a road map for untold scores of “post-rock” bands around the globe to follow, the short-lived but long-loved Slint has remained one of music fandom’s most mythical, sphinxlike bands — but Breadcrumb Trail, the brand-new documentary by Lance Bangs, now reveals the minds behind the life-changing music.

Wanna go? Breadcrumb Trail is playing at Cinefamily from today until Saturday! If you're at tonight's show, why not head on down to El Prado afterwards for a weekly dose of Record Club goodness? It'll be the perfect musical nightcap, we promise!

OV PRESENTS: Moses Sumney Residency TONIGHT @ The Bootleg!

Another month, another OV rezzie! This March, OV is presenting Moses Sumney at the Bootleg Bar every Monday for free! More info can be found below.

Origami Vinyl & LA Magazine present Moses Sumney March 10th @ Bootleg Theater:

Doors 8pm
Special Guest

IN-STORE: Tacocat TONIGHT at 5PM!

Super stoked to have Tacocat in store for a rockin' performance tonight!

The quartet of bubblegum surf pop rockers are bringing their vivacious energy to our loft tonight and we couldn't be more excited. Their latest album NVM was released just a few weeks ago and came just in time to provide us with a rad springtime soundtrack. Whether you're a fan of post punk, bubblegum pop, or 70's garage rock, we've got a treat for you. This album is so great, we don't even know where to begin. Not only is it the perfect blend of catchy guitar riffs and bass lines, but this album also perfectly displays their quirky sense of humor - "Psychedelic Quincenera" is about about a girl named Consuela who's apparently not going to school today and taking LSD instead, while "F.U. # 8" is about hating the public transportation system. Needless to say, we're stoked to have these hilarious and energetic rockers playing tonight. So you're still half asleep from the time change, Tacocat is sure to give you the wake up call you so desperately need.

We can't wait to see ya tonight, but in the meantime take a little listen to "Crimson Wave" off their new album, NVM.

IN-STORE: Rainbow Jackson TONIGHT @7PM!

Beyond excited to welcome Rainbow Jackson into our loft tonight for a live performance!

These echo park friends and housemates are changing the rules of power-punk, mixing it with elements of straight up rock and roll and a bit of DIY garage rock. After a ton of singles and tantalizing previews of their music, they have released an EP by the name of Perpetual Summer - and we're all too excited about it.  These dudes have hit the nostalgic sweet spot with this one; "Nightcrawler" reminds us of those carefree summer nights, while on the other hand, "Psycho Betty" has an old school classic feel that is the perfect song to blast while cruising around. These “scuzzed-up power-pop” retro-rockers are sure to shake up the OV loft tonight, so don't miss it!

We can't wait to see you tonight as you join us for a night of awesome local rock and roll. In the meantime, take a listen to "Psycho Betty", just one of the awesome songs on their awesome new EP, Perpetual Summer.

IN-STORE: Ava Luna In-Store TONIGHT @ 6PM!

All the way from New York and performing live in our loft tonight at 6PM, don't miss Ava Luna!

This Brooklyn group first gained notoriety with the release of their first LP,  Ice Level in 2012, garnering them significant buzz in NY and beyond for the album's heady mix of art-funk harmonies and experimental tangents. After months of relentless touring, Ava Luna returned to the studio to record their newest release Electric Balloon, which came out Tuesday and features more focused songwriting and hooks, priming Ava Luna for a break into the big time. We're all about their weird brand of musical alchemy here at OV and we couldn't be happier to have them up in our loft tonight at 6PM!

So come on down to the shop tonight and get your groove on with us! We dance just as weird as you, don't worry! If you wanna practice your moves, give a listen to Electric Balloon single "PRPL" below and we'll see you tonight at 6!

IN-STORE: Warm Soda / Big Tits TONIGHT @ 6pm!

Tonight at 6pm, we are stoked to have Warm Soda in our loft for a live performance!
Hailing from Oakland this "pop" group knows how to combine elements of power pop, glam, and garage rock into what has been described as "punky-pop perfection". We're excited these guys are coming down to join the growing garage-rock scene in LA for the night, as their 2013 album, Someone For You received nothing but positive reviews. Their chill and fun melodies are the perfect soundtrack to a care-free summer evening, as they have seemingly gained influences from 70's garage rock. Not only that, but their and their power chords and bass riffs can be compared to those of The Strokes. After these great reviews, we're excited to learn that Warm Soda's new album Young Reckless Hearts drops 3-11-2014! The group recently told Rolling Stone that this album is about "trusting your intuition at the moment you break free from whatever is holding you back, no matter the consequences” - so we're stoked to hear it.
Also joining them tonight, as well as on their "Renegade Mode" 2014 USA Tour is Big Tits. These guys are sure to bring their vivacious energy to the our loft tonight, so don't miss it! And while you're getting ready to come party with us, be sure give a listen to“Young Reckless Hearts” which is off Warm Soda’s forthcoming album of the same name:
