The record maintains Deacon's recognizable cyclone of joyful pop we all know and love while allowing his progress as a musician to shine along with the thoughtful concept behind the album. He explains, "the inspiration for the music was my love of cross-country travel, seeing the landscapes of the United States, going from east to west and back again over the course of seasons. The lyrics are inspired by my frustration, fear and anger towards the country and world I live in and am a part of."

I am so stoked about seeing Blood Orange, like, really. I first heard the debut single "Dinner" (released by Terrible Records) I knew that this was gonna be different than his other projects such as Test Icicles and Lightspeed Champion. I was hooked. A full length album later, put out by Domino Records in August 2011, Blood Orange is grooving in every body's heart. His debut album, Coastal Grooves, will steer you in finding your inner 80's drag queen, I know I did.
