Dream Boys Monday Night Residency @ The Echo!

Independent music from the west coast of Scotland has always had a kinship with psychedelic pop music from the west coast of America. Orange Juice loved The Byrds, Teenage Fanclub wanted to be in Buffalo Springfield, the Pastels adored the Electric Prunes. Dream Boys are a modern day trans atlantic love affair realized. Consisting of 3 Americans and 1 Scotsman, their songs have the spirit of postcard records filtered through the rural haze of the paisley underground. Their songs float around the notion of time and space, love and heartbreak, the highs and lows with a range of emotion and introspection. One can’t imagine these songs coming from any other band or from any other time other than now. These songs are psychedelic in the truest sense, a californian sun rises on a Glasgow street, rain fall during an indian summer, Dream Boys’ music lies somewhere in between this musical dream, in love with pop music with a sincerity unmatched.

Mutual Benefit @ The Echo!

After a captivating performance at CFAER, Mutual Benefit returns to L.A tonight at the Echo! Touring in support of their excellent 2013 LP Love's Crushing Diamond and their newly reissued EP The Cowboy's Prayer, Mutual Benefit is ready to take L.A once again! Catapulted to stardom after a unexpected BNM from Pitchfork, Mutual Benefit's widescreen orchestral folk locates the grandiose in the minuscule, equal parts Andrew Bird and Sufjan Stevens. Love's Crushing Diamond was one of OV faves in 2013 and we can't wait to see Mutual Benefit tonight at the Echo! See you there!

Friday, October 17th
Polica @ The Roxy!

Rounding out your workweek, Polica takes the stage at The Roxy in support of their excellent 2013 album Shulamith. Reworking their art-rock R&B to more experimental ends, Shulamith opened up Polica to their fullest potential, as evidenced by the strength of their most recent tour. Busting out in a big way, Polica are poised to take the next step tonight at The Roxy, and you bet we're gonna be there in support! The show gets started at 8PM!

Saturday, October 18th
Girl Tears & Corey + The Castaways @ 6PM!

Looking to get wild? Then OV's your stop tonight at 6PM when Girl Tears take over the loft with Corey + The Castaways! Disciples to the holy temple of the 1:00 punk song, Girl Tears mix razor-sharp guitars with surprising harmony, crafting fast and catchy songs like nobody's business. These L.A locals have been churning around the scene for the better part of a year, and with the release of their new album Tension, Girl Tears are looking to move into the big time. We love their 70s/80s punk influences and can't wait to see them tear up the loft tonight at 6! Supporting Girl Tears, Corey of Terry Malts returns to the OV loft to lay down his catchy drone-y surf rock. We loved this homie last time he played and are excited to see what his Castaways add to the mix. Touring in support of his newest single, "Down Again" come check out Corey and Girl Tears tonight at OV! See you soon!

Keep an eye on our Twitter/Facebook for future giveaways!

Now that we've planned your week, you better be putting the finishing touches on the OV jack-o-lantern we've always wanted..

FOXYGEN Premiere Party Tonight! 8 PM!

At 8 PM we'll be playing Foxygen's sophomore album, We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors Of Peace & Magic (Jagjaguwar Records) in it's entirety! These dudes have been playing music since junior high and when they showed producer and musician, Richard Swift, he flipped his wig! We're stoked to hear what they've been working on - some have described this album as "the Kinks on acid." I'm pretty sure the Kinks were on acid but I'm still excited, nonetheless. Come by for pizza and drinks!

TONIGHT: Listening Party for The Antlers "Undersea" 8 pm

Tonight we're suckerpunchin' ya with an in-store w/ Foxygen at 7 pm then hitting ya with a listening party at 8 pm! It's the best beating you'll ever get because you can hear The Antlers' new album, Undersea (out on ANTI) all the way through. AND there will be free pizza, drinks, and a test press to raffle off courtesy of Epitaph!

Counteract Magazine had to say this about Undersea: "The EP is without doubt a step into murky waters, with eight minute long tracks and more electronic mixing than ever before. But after many listens, this resembles the QE2 rather than the Titanic… The Great Barrier Reef rather than Calais… In fact; there isn’t much more The Antlers could’ve done to make this better." Ohhh yeah!

Listen to "Drift Dive" below and float on by for Foxygen at 7 pm then hear Undersea at 8.

TONIGHT: In-store w/ Foxygen 7 pm!!

Aww yeah you ready to get wild with Foxygen? No? That's cool baby, cuz you have a few hours to snap outta it before you shimmy on over to OV to see Foxygen bring down the house in-store tonight at 7 pm!

While most of us did nothing productive in high school, Jonathan Rado and Sam France recorded songs in a bedroom as Foxygen. They've produced more than eight albums in the past few years, catching the attention of Jagjaguwar, who is releasing the new album, Take The Kids Off Broadway on July 24.

Foxygen is a brilliant psych haze that drives you through a 60s trip that's fresh, never frozen. They'll be touring the West coast with La Sera and Moonface, but you can see them for free at OV.

Get psyched with "Make It Known" and don't deny yourself the pleasure of seeing Foxygen tonight at 7 pm!
