IN-STORE: RedRumsey TODAY @ 7 PM!!

RedRumsey is swinging into the loft today at 7 PM, you should too!!

RedRumsey, hailing from Olympia Washington,  has been a project of Vern Rumsey for some time now, yet never the priority when Unwound and Long Hind Legs were around. Vern has been writing songs and playing them on RedRumsey on and off since 2000. RedRumsey became an outlet for Vern to turn to, never on the front burner but never dying. RedRumsey is a collaboration: sometimes an acoustic solo, sometimes with electronics, sometimes with guest players, or even all three. Vern claims that RedRumsey is a more organic version of Long Hind Legs, and its a band he now wants to prioritize.

RedRumsey wants to make a lasting experience, and something that is unique and new every time you see them live. The Compass Rose EP is hot off the press, just being released on March 8th. What's even cooler? Its limited edition, only 100 made, and the covers are eco-friendly and hand stamped. These EPs are straight from the heart of Vernon Rumsey.

Why not start your list of experiences with RedRumsey today?? It's going to be one for the books!

IN-STORE: CIKATRI$ TONIGHT @ 7 PM!!

Punk has a new twist, Thanks CIKATRI$!!

Ever listened to Fransk Keytar Punk? Well, here's your opportunity to hear it live from CIKATRI$, straight out of Stockholm. Origami is lucky enough to be the first stop on their U.S Tour. These Swedes know punk, but don't take our word for it, take a listen! CIKATRI$ (or Scar in english) released their third EP "Aïe! Le trois" in 2014 on Sax Records, is so good it makes us want to learn French. Their brand of punk is lo-fi, 80s, slurred vocals, fast paced chord changes, hard hitting attitudes. Really everything you could ask for in great punk. Look out for the occasional trumpet or keytar solo, it gives a little extra spice that you may not expect.

CIKATRI$ is dropping by tonight at 7 PM, you really don't want to miss this one!!

IN-STORE: The Title Trackers TONIGHT @ 4 PM!!

Have you ever wondered what it might have sounded like if your favorite artists had written a Title Track for one of their albums?

Well, The Title Trackers are here to show you! As the name may suggest, the Title Trackers take classic albums without a title track, and come up with parody songs of what that title track may have sounded like.

What started off as a project to make each other laugh, turned into something much more for the Title Trackers. Lost Title Tracks released on March 10th is funny, but thats not all it is. It isn't nostalgic or an imitation of classic bands, its raw, energetic, off the cut, and passionate. The Lost Title Tracks amply shows how the greats influence musicians, but with a satyric twist on the larger than life personalities and quirks of musical heroes.

There is a story behind every song. Lost Title Tracks will conjure more than just humor. Check it out TONIGHT at 4 PM!!

IN-STORE: Bouquet TONIGHT @ 6PM!!

We feel real bad that we forget to get you flowers on your birthday, so we are bringing you an even better kind of Bouquet at the loft TONIGHT!

Bouquet can really only be described as a kaleidoscope pop duo. As a pair, they manage to create a warm and uniquely inviting feeling. You can feel their immersive sound pulsing through your veins because of their intricate use of sweet delicate harmonies, a mass of guitar, trembling synthesizers, and the vibrations of old-school rhythm machines. Bouquet manages to mix a healthy blend of post-punk wonders, dulcet sensibilities, and synth symphonies.

Their new album In A Dream is set to co-release with Ulrike Records and Folktale Records on March 31st. So maybe if we are lucky they will give us a sneak peek. We sure hope so! This is an in-store you won't want to miss. The OV family can't wait to have the store reverberate with the beautiful intricacies that Bouquet has in store for us tonight.

6 PM. Be There.

IN-STORE: Exorcisms TONIGHT @ 7 PM!!

The title may be deceiving, but we aren't offering exorcisms for you all tonight, but we are going to have Exorcisms swing by the loft for your enjoyment!

This trio of Los Angeles natives is changing the game for local bands, and creating their own style that others are going to want to follow. Their sound teeter on the axis of staunch rock n' roll tradition, but with a little of their own mutant twist. They are more cinematic than the tradition DIY garage-rock band, and their music is driven some kind of universal feeling that we can't explain. You'll just have to check it out to find out.

This blues-punk garage-rock band will surprise you with their tailor-made tunes. They take risks and take names. They just released Scripted Lines b/w This Might Hurt a Bit in January, and boy, we like what we hear and we bet you will too.

Exorcisms will knock your socks off, so wear an extra pair when you stop in tonight at 7 PM to catch them live!!

IN-STORE: Michna TONIGHT @ 7 PM!!

Michna is dropping into the loft TONIGHT at 7 PM!! This is a comeback you wont want to miss!

Michna, or Adrian Michna, went on hiatus for awhile, but boy are we pretty stoked he is back at it. His first album Magic Monday was a big hit, and took his career in many other directions, including music production for video games and film scoring. Sometimes life takes you where it wants, but we are glad he didn't forget about the music, because his sophomore album Thousand Thursday, released on Ghostly, was well worth the wait.

His new album is quite obviously a celebration of Michna's love for spirited and vibrant electronic music. He doesn't fuss with the frills of conceptual or contextual baggage. All of his influences mess together seamlessly, but with great care, and it showcases his passions and maybe even where his mind has been in the last few years.

IN-STORE: The Smoke Fairies TODAY @ 4 PM!

We here at Origami Vinyl are pleased to announce that UK folk duo, The Smoke Fairies will be performing in our loft this evening at 4 PM!

A longtime favorite of Jack White, the Fairies’ Jessica Davies and Katherine Blamire became the first British act released on his Third Man Records imprint back in 2009 with their 7” single, “Gastown.” Six critically acclaimed albums later, White continued to show his love for The Smoke Fairies yesterday when he performed with them on CBS TV for a Bob Dylan tribute alongside Neil Young, Beck, John Doe and more. Whoa! Anyways, we’re very excited to be hosting these ladies whose spooky, mist shrouded folk is sure to make for an ethereal late-afternoon, and should pair nicely with the free pizza we'll be serving!

IN-STORE: Virginia Reed TONIGHT @ 7 PM!

This evening, broody local rock n’ roll fiends, Virginia Reed will be gracing our loft in support of their new self-released record, Potential Enemies out on February 10th!

This four-piece band took their name from a photograph of a woman chief songwriter, Keith Hendrickson found while perusing an estate sale and felt he had met before in a previous life. Yikes! Scared yet? It gets worse... Turns out Virginia Reed is also the name of one of the members of the Donner Party – band names don’t get much spookier than this. But we promise Virginia Reed will draw you in and not scare you out! So come pile into our shop tonight at 7 PM and prepare for THRILLS and CHILLS as Hendrickson and co. throw down their dark and stormy dirges on our unsuspecting ears. It'll be quite the aural feast!

IN-STORE: Minnow TONIGHT @ 7 PM!!

Minnow is swimming into OV TONIGHT! Come catch them!

Minnow is an L.A based band that you really need to watch. Their self-titled album released in 2012 was recorded and pieced together from all different locations with much success, but Trembles & Temperance, released in November 2014 on Anchor Eighty Four Records, was approached a little differently.

The band placed a lot of emphasis on trying to capture the live sound and feeling on their new LP. Minnow also placed a lot more emphasis on vocal and harmony, to make an album that really flows with cohesion and ambience. But don't get me wrong, it may be more harmonious, but it still rocks. Minnow has managed with great success to smooth out the edges, without loosing the uniquely raw sound that was so welcomed on their EP.

Come on down TONIGHT at 7 PM and catch the set Minnow has prepared for the OV loft!

EVENT ALERT: Title Fight Premiere Party TONIGHT @ 7:30 PM!!

Title Fight's new album is dropping on the OV tonight at 7:30 PM!!

If you have been waiting in heavy anticipation for Title Fight's new album, Hyperview, set to release on February 3rd by ANTI- Records, boy do we have a treat for you. These Pennsylvania natives have sent us an early sneak peek, and they are letting us share it with you!

You wont just be getting a sneak peek, you will also have the chance to win some awesome prizes, like signed posters or tickets to the show at the Regent! You can also snack on some pizza and pick up a copy of the Hyperview vinyl before its released to the common man. You're our special guests, so come reap the benefits!

But what should you expect? Hyperview is said to be a massive leap forward compared to their other albums. Grantland said that is "big, sweeping, emotional, and totally captivating". The vocals are a little more muted, and the lyrics are defiantly opaque. This is an album that cannot just be listened to, but instead experienced as an glorious event within itself. The release party is set up in Pennsylvania for the 3rd, so don't miss this chance to hear the new sound earlier than anyone else on the West Coast while you still can.

TONIGHT. 7:30 PM. TITLE FIGHT. Get ready.

IN-STORE: GRMLN TONIGHT @ 7 PM!!

GRMLN will be shredding in the loft tonight @ 7 PM!! So GET HERE ALREADY!

Yoodoo Park, also known as GRMLN, is one California native that we just can't get enough of. (Look at him, can you blame us?) GRMLN's first album "Empire" made waves in 2015, and we are almost positive that the song "Teenage Rhythm" was on everyone's go-to playlist that summer. Plus have you seen the video? Genius, because who doesn't love degenerate old hippies.
Let's just say GRMLN has created some high expectations for himself, and his sophomore album "Soon Away", being released by Carpark Records in September of 2014 , doesn't disappoint. It's filled with the same upbeat angst as before, and still has all the grit and grin as the last, but maybe with a tad more sophistication. If you haven't checked it out yet, tonight is the perfect opportunity.

Get up close and personal with GRMLN tonight at 7 PM!

IN-STORE: Joel Jerome TONIGHT @ 7 PM!!

Joel Jerome is swinging by TONIGHT @ 7 PM!! Don't Miss Out!!

Joel Jerome is most known for his experimental thriftstore folk music. What is that you ask? Well, you can expect heavy bass, organ/acoustic, drums, and LOTS of vocals. If that doesn't sound like a good time, you may need to re-evaluate your definition of "good time". You may know Joel Jerome from dios or Babies on Acid, or even bands like Cherry Glazer that he helped produce, but his solo set at Origami is going to be a little different from all of that. He is a lyricist in the truest sense, he can say a lot in just a line or two, and his songs are so natural that they will feel just like old favorites even if its the first time you are hearing them.

Joel has a special way of reining in harmonies over punchy, old school drums and guitar experimentation using vintage amps that creates a sound hard to find anywhere else. Joel Jerome is a magician, and this will be a show you won't ever forget.

TONIGHT @ 7 PM! Experience music like never before!

IN-STORE: Whitman TONIGHT @ 5 PM!!

Whitman is rolling by TONIGHT @ 5 PM! Knowing him, it will be a one of a kind performance!

Whitman, and his rusted and forlorn sound are really one of a kind. You can't tell his music is made with broken down instruments, scraps of metal and trashy guitars,  but once you find out its all the more impressive. Whitman infuses his music with the essence of LA in the purest sense. You can taste the smog and imagine the vacant lots, and soiled mattresses on the sidewalks.

His new album Restoring Darkness comes out on Folktale Records December 30th, and is sure to be filled to the brim with all of the joy and brutality that we know and love in LA. His lyrics are sometimes painful, and so emotional that its impossible not to feel the disconnect Whitman is portraying. Don't let the pink towel and beach babes fool you, its about as deep as it gets.

Come check Whitman out Live TONIGHT to get the full experience. You won't forget this in-store.

IN-STORE: Byrdsol TONIGHT @ 7 PM!!

Byrdsol is flying into the OV loft on TONIGHT @ 7 PM for a performance that will leave you chirping all weekend!!

Byrdsol has an interesting electronic and folk vibe that we are really digging right now. His new self-released album pierreponte plays off of the duality of these two distinct genres, distorted and smooth all at the same time. The songs may be electronically put together, and the strums are cut and mended, but Tomlinson's croon and bedroom style lyrics connect everything together in the most fantastic ways. Byrdsol's music is dreamy, and you will feel like your flying through the clouds while your listening to him.

Pierreponte was three years in the making, and was recorded four times and mixed five times. That means that Tomlinson isn't going to settle for anything less than perfection. If that doesn't get this in-store on your Friday To-Do List, then listen to this. The album was recorded in Bad House, built in 1902, which just so happens to be the residence of the last person to see The Black Dhalia alive. Talk about LA history!

There are so many reasons that you should be fluttering on down to OV tonight, but reason #1 is that Byrdsol is worth the trip!
