FYF FEST MEGA POST!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOO!!! FYF IS HERE FINALLY!

This year at FYF we decided to go all out. Not only are we bringing the entire shop to the festival, but we have some free goodies and an killer lineup of signings at our tent!

First things first, check out these awesome OV tote bags!

Made in collaboration with Vans with art by the fabulous Michael C. Hsiung and printed by Everybodies Stomached these awesome totes will be free for the first 250 people each day to make a purchase at our booth! Included in these awesome totes (other than the rockin' record you just purchased) there will be a cassette mixtape from Epitaph Records and our quarterly zine!

We are the only music vendor at the festival, which means we've been tirelessly alphabetizing and restocking hundreds of records and CDs to make sure there is an adequate selection for you guys! This also means that for every act at the festival there will be something to scoop up and add to your collection and possibly get signed... Did I say signed? I wonder where you could get something signed... OH YEAH, OUR TENT. Check out this awesome list of signings that we'll be having this year:

Keep in mind all times are subject to change so make sure to swing by our tent at the festival so you don't miss out.

Sadly, because our entire store will be at FYF this weekend, the shop will be closed friday-monday. Sorry... but we will be open again for regular business hours tuesday.

Holy cow I can't wait for this weekend! If you're going to be at FYF don't forget to stop by and say hi at our tent, which is located right next to the official FYF merch tent. Seeya there!

ALBUM PREMIERE PARTY: Joyce Manor TODAY @ 3PM!

Joyce Manor has decided to premier their third studio album, Never Hungover Again,  right here in Origami at 3pm!

This is their first release off of Epitaph and check it out, the album doesn’t even actually come out until the 22nd, but we’re gonna have the band in-store TODAY to listen to the record and hang with us (and you!). That's tight, right? That's tight. Plus, you can totally pre-order it.

Never Hungover Again falls on the pop side of punk, and intentionally so. According to an interview with guitarist/vocalist Barry Johnson, Joyce Manor has been in a perennial dialectic struggle between their pop-punk and hardcore sensibilities. Johnson claims, "The first thing we did was pop-punk wanting to be hardcore, and we succeeded. That gave us the confidence to focus on more pop stuff, which we wouldn't have had the confidence to do before..." And confidence is exactly what the band (Johnson particularly) need when writing and developing the album's more personal content - a task that the band's pop influences take care of. According to Johnson, the genre of "harcore" displays its limitations when it comes to communication. In his words,"you just need something that communicates complicated emotion and melody can do that." That being said, there are many a moment in this record where Johnson's hardcore vocals certainly take control.

Ps. There may be special donuts (by our good pals Donut Friend) beverages and free tickets to their show at the Fonda to be had.

TONIGHT: Listening Party for The Antlers "Undersea" 8 pm

Tonight we're suckerpunchin' ya with an in-store w/ Foxygen at 7 pm then hitting ya with a listening party at 8 pm! It's the best beating you'll ever get because you can hear The Antlers' new album, Undersea (out on ANTI) all the way through. AND there will be free pizza, drinks, and a test press to raffle off courtesy of Epitaph!

Counteract Magazine had to say this about Undersea: "The EP is without doubt a step into murky waters, with eight minute long tracks and more electronic mixing than ever before. But after many listens, this resembles the QE2 rather than the Titanic… The Great Barrier Reef rather than Calais… In fact; there isn’t much more The Antlers could’ve done to make this better." Ohhh yeah!

Listen to "Drift Dive" below and float on by for Foxygen at 7 pm then hear Undersea at 8.
