Take a listen to "Back And To The Left" and we'll see you tonight.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Silversun Pickups @ OV on Record Store Day!
Yeah you read that right, we've got Silversun Pickups coming through the shop to play an acoustic set for Record Store Day on Saturday, April 20th, so stuff THAT in your pipe and smoke it!
This is going to be a pretty crazy day, so only 40 people will be able to attend the show, and in order to pick those people we're going to be running a little contest. Here's the skinny on how to partake in the festivities:
The first 40 fans to come IN PERSON to Origami Vinyl and take an Instagram or Facebook photo holding up our sign that reads "I'm seeing SSPU at OV on APRIL 20th, 2013 for RSD" in front of the Origami Vinyl shopfront will get their name on the list (1 ticket per winner) to see Silversun Pickups play an intimate acoustic set in the OV loft on Record Store Day. Fans are required to share the photo on Instagram and/or Facebook and must tag @sspu @origamivinyl @recordstoreday and hashtag #SSPU@OVonRSD.
For those not familiar with the beginnings of SSPU, they got their start performing around the EP/Silverlake area, and we're stoked to be having these hometown heroes paying homage to their early years by playing here at Origami on RSD. They have a new album titled "Neck Of The Woods" (Dangerbird Records), and we think you should check it out, especially "The Pit," which we have conveniently provided you below.

Come on down to OV tonight, because you've just been selected to groove out to the crazy stylings of Turnbull Green at 7pm for an intimate performance.
"Throbbing baselines and deliberately degraded synths blend seamlessly with melodic hymns and frenzied outbursts. Filled with equal parts bliss to despair, peace to paranoia, it’s as mechanical as it is organic and its a headfirst dive into the cavernous mind of Turnbull Green."
Take a listen to "Numbnose Badbrains," a jam that'll make you contemplate your very existence. See you at 7!

Get 'Em Tiger are a young group of dudes hailing from Washington (state) and their awesome! They've got that 2000's Seattle/Up Records kind of vibe to them but with lyrical delivery of a band like The Minutemen.

Li Xi + Ash Reiter + Couches @ 6pm
Triple Header! Music Music Music! Thursday! In Your Face! Can you feel the energy?!
We're so energized over here because tonight Li Xi, Ash Reiter and Couches are kicking off their tour at OV at 6pm and it's free. What?!
For those of you that aren't familiar, Li Xi is a San Francisco outfit that "...use dream-pop vocal melodies and combine 60's psychedelia with contemporary electronics and vintage synthesizers." If you like to get trippy, check out "Moss Beach," it'll have you feeling groovy.
Ash Reiter was our first in-store of the new year, and we are excited to be hosting her as she tours once again. Take a listen to "Ishi," and get down with it fool.
Last, but certainly not least, we've got Couches from SF. They've only been together for about 2 months and are about to release a 7" in the coming months, but we are excited to see what they have to offer.

Moon Casale + Roses @ 7pm!
Tonight we've got a double header for you. First, we've got Keith Zarriello, of The Shivers, coming through the OV loft to give us a glimpse of his solo project Moon Casale. We've also got Andy Tobiassen, of Deer Tick fame, performing as Roses, so it should be a great night of music that all begins at 7pm.
Moon Casale is a pretty rad project in which Zarriello "...hopes to take his songs around the world and change the way people think about contemporary Christian music." It's a step in the other direction when compared to The Shivers, but baby, it's the right step. "I'll Turn Into A Rainbow" is the title of one of the tracks off of his self-titled album, and it'll creep you out so good.
You get extra meat on this double decker sandwich tonight courtesy of Roses. On the new self titled EP, you'll get songs that make you want to bob up and down on the dance floor and songs that'll arouse your soul, and that's how Roses does it. Listen to the funk that "Get It Right" has and you will get it. Roses rocks!

Yellow Red Sparks In-Store Tonight @ 7pm!
Tonight's in-store de jour comes to you courtesy of Los Angeles' very own Yellow Red Sparks. Come by OV tonight at 7pm to catch a glimpse of this rad indie folk outfit and say "whatsup" to your favorite record shop.
If you haven't listened to their recently released self-titled LP, then you really are missing out. On it "...the trio successfully weaves the bare roots of songwriting, the rich harmonies of choir and the symphonic arrangements of old film to create a cinematic texture of their own." Folk and Americana fans alike are going to love this album, and if you aren't sold yet, then listen to "A Play To End All Plays." I promise you will see the light.

3/2/13: Neil Schield at Noise Pop Culture Club
Pull out the red carpet and get the kodak ready, because Los Angeles vinyl guru/OV's very own Neil Schield is going to be speaking in a forum at Noise Pop's Culture Club on March 2nd alongside Eilon Pax (Dust & Grooves), Sinkane, Roddy Bogawa (Director of Taken By Storm) and Storm Thorgerson (Legendary Album Art Designer).
The panelists will be having a compelling and interactive discussion over the ever growing love and passion of vinyl music culture, and we're proud that our boy Neil was selected to be included amongst such an epic roster of dudes.
Stop by if you're in the area and let Neil impart his sage-like wisdom upon you. More details on the event are available here, and here is a link to purchase your tickets for $10 (includes entry into all of the talks that day).
