The first half of tonight's one-two punch comes in the form of visual artist Ted Feighan's sample-based musical project Monster Rally, whose debut album Return to Paradise combines forgotten bongo beats, leftover jazz guitar lines and hazy hi-hats in a way that will have you pining for Miami circa 1979 and those days when the buttons on your shirt are not a priority. Sounds like a perfect remedy for that food coma you've been stuck in since Thursday. Trust us, we're there too. Check out the lead single from Return to Paradise, "Orchids" below.
After getting those shirt buttons undone, stick around for a performance by RUMTUM, whose hip-hop sensibility closely mirrors Monster Rally's sample-heavy production, but finds its own distinct sound that's more FlyLo than Toro Y Moi. Headed by 1320 Records producer John Hastings, RUMTUM and their latest album Mystic Wonders will get your head bobbing and your feet moving without a doubt. Don't trust us? Give a listen to lead single "Ritz Blitz" below.
So no matter your post-Halloween state, stop on by Origami tonight at 7PM and have some sweet tunes on us. We promise they won't give you a tummy-ache. See you soon!
So stoked for this!
