Neil to Speak on Panel at the Grammy Museum!

Last week I was asked by The Grammy Foundation to speak at a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, May 18th @ 7:30pm along with Phil Gallo (Highly touted music journalist and co-author of Record Store Days), Gary Calamar (KCRW DJ and co-author of Record Store Days), Peter Jesperson (VP, A&R New West Records), and recording artist Grant Lee Philips. The topic of our conversation will be about the future of record stores and the evolution of music consumption. Some questions will be asked about how today's teenagers will remember their favorite bands of 2010 and if music will resonate as much in the digital future as it did in the record store past.

It would be rad to get as many of our friends down to the conversation. The event is free, but you will need to make a reservation. You can do so by calling 213.765.6830 or by emailing programs@grammymuseum.org

Here are the deets:

RECORD STORE DAY IS UPON US!!!

One of the biggest days of the year for Origami Vinyl is almost here...

RECORD STORE DAY!!

For those of you not in the know it's this crazy day where people get together to celebrate independent record stores. Needless to say we are fully on board. Last year we had only been open for a couple of weeks and weren't really sure what to expect. We were a bit unprepared for the demand and foot traffic we received but it still ended up being a pretty epic party all day long. We had live performances from a bunch of rad local artists like Restavrant, Frank Fairfield, Charlie Wadhams, Jail Weddings, Robert Francis, and Olin and the Moon. I think we put it all together in like 2 weeks.

This year we have a whopper of a day that we're sure you will get all giggly about. For the first time ever we will be opening at 10am so that you early birds can snatch up all the rare and exclusive goodies. A list of all the releases we've gotten in will follow at the bottom of this post.

One F in-store tonight!!!

Tonight at 7pm, Origami Vinyl welcomes San Francisco's One F to the loft for a special live performance to promote their releases on vinyl, Magic Burgrs Donuts and the Fuck Bush EP.

Here's a little blurb:
one f? What is one f? Built around the songs of guitarist/vocalist Christopher Keith, one f is not confined by a particular sound or genre, but flows organically between them. Quick changes in mood, from sincere balladry to all-out rocking, combine seamlessly into a cohesive whole, often in the space of a single song. Layers of sonic texture combine with Keith’s raspy voice and timely lyrics to produce a sound that lives fully in the moment.
