GLOBES ON REMOTE in the loft tonight

"Thoroughly synth-poppy and proud of it, Globes on Remote turn out playful, tuneful tracks like “Space Camp.” Currently working on a sophomore release, the local quartet takes some time out to play an in-store set at Origami Vinyl. Here’s hoping the shop clears some space for dancing." Brand-X

We couldn't have said it better ourselves and we're psyched to have them here. There's plenty of room for dancing...just don't step on my toes!

Brunch with SUPERCHUNK today at noon!

...This time it's with SUPERCHUNK! I can't tell you how excited I am...since the moment, during my freshmen year, when my friend Steve played me "Like A Fool" for the first time, this band has remained very close to my heart...AND HELL YEAH THEY'RE F*$&#*G BACK!!!

At noon today members of Superchunk will be playing an all acoustic set of songs from their new album Majesty Shredding plus some of your faves from albums past. Coffee and bagels will be provided by Stories Books!

You can also purchase tickets to Superchunk's show at the Henry Fonda tonight right here at Origami!

We leave you with this...GET PUMPED!!!

LA Font "The American Leagues" Record Release TONIGHT!!!!

As you might know from reading our blog we really like exclamation points. We just get so excited about all the cool happenings that we are lucky enough to be involved in. Tonight is another such occasion to get stoked.

You may have read about LA Font in Buzzbands or Brand X (or caught them in our loft a few months ago.) Although they only have a few shows under their belts Danny Bobbe and crew are still cranking out the jams like a band that's been around for a long, long time. Tonight you can get your filthy mitts (it happens when you're diggin' for records...we understand) on their first full length "The American Leagues". Come hear in awe inspiring REAL LIFE the swagger and sass this bunch of hooligans are spitting out.

LA Font ascend to the loft at 7pm.

Andy Ristaino Art Opening + Jónsi in-store performance

Oh man...our heads are spinning at the amount of amazing stuff happening here. Not only do we have upcoming in-stores from Frightened Rabbit & Superchunk but today we have the great pleasure of announcing that Jónsi (from Sigur Ros) will be appearing live in our loft on Oct. 17th...more info at the bottom of the page.

Included in the list of amazing happenings at the shop is tonight's event. We are hosting an opening by artist Andy Ristaino. Not only is he one of the most amazing artists we know, he can also rock a theramin like nobody's business. Andy has done album covers and rock posters for many bands. This show will feature some of these pieces as well as an entire wall of post-its that he has been drawing for over the course of 2 years. You may know Andy from playing in SF Psych Rock band Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound, as SKRONKED, as author and animator for his books: The Babysitter and Escape From Dullsville or as one of the animators for the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time! The opening will begin at 6pm and go on till 9pm. Andy will be selecting his favorite tunes for the evening.

And now...the info you've been waiting for...
Jónsi (of Sigur Ros) will be appearing live in a special acoustic set live in our loft and joined by a variety of friends.
