ETERNAL SUMMERS today at 5pm

Eternal Summers will detonate your chill vibe. At least that's what we've been told. To be honest it kinda makes us want to bounce up and down...or side to side...dance moves will vary...we're staying hopeful for detonation.

This duo’s music comes out of the forests of Roanoke, VA, where the mountain vistas are inspiring but the scene is mostly cover bands. Both members are a part of the Magic Twig Community, a collective of nine like-minded musicians that cherish boundless creativity and weirdo indie pop. Sounding something like Margo Guryan fronting Galaxy 500 they make the kind of dreamy, bouncy pop that will keep that summer sun shining into your ears all the year long.

Eternal Summers will play our loft this evening at 5pm...a sweet precursor to their set tonight at The Echo...
BUT WAIT!!! There's more!!! Those of you who purchase their new Prisoner EP will each receive a free Kanine totebag containing a love letter giving you free admission to the show tonight.

They sound great AND they're sweet. This is gonna be a lovely night.

We will also be streaming the show for your enjoyment in partnership with our new homies Yowie!...check out http://www.yowie.com/show/3i0 to view the fun which was yours to be had.

SMOOCH!

Agent Ribbons In-Store Performance TONIGHT @ 7pm

We are sooooo excited to finally get our friends Agent Ribbons in our loft. Promoting their new full length LP, Chateau Crone, out now on Antenna Farm Records.

Th e story of Agent Ribbons has not one–but many–beginnings, and fashioning some semblance of chronology from their cut-and-paste four-year history is an art project in and of itself. Originally hailing from the shanty-Victorian streets of downtown Sacramento, they now reside in Austin,TX when they aren’t traveling the world and jamming econo.

Usually, you’ll experience them as a three piece, but they are also known to keep it simple with the original two-piece guitar, drums and vocals line up. In either case, they almost always catch crowds off-guard with their live rawness, bringing both an honest minimalism and unapologetic theatricality to their live shows.

Agent Ribbons isn’t just a band–it’s a tree house club of post-feminist dreamers trying to find their place in the scheme of things, like a hand-sewn and lovingly-crafted garment in a modern, disposable world. Listening to everything from Eartha Kitt to e Velvet Underground and taking notes from bands like The Shaggs, Th e Boswell Sisters and Th e Zombies, they miraculously reconcile seemingly-unrelated genres, sounding something like Girls in the Garage doing the Three Penny Opera. Waxing sentimental over the eerie beauty of all things lost to time, the emphasis is undoubtedly in the lyrics, which favor clever turns of phrase and occasional humor, but never at the expense of the melodic integrity of their catchy, memorable songs.

Since 2007, the band has toured the U.S. more times than they can remember. Some of those tours were with big national acts like Camera Obscura, Cake, Detroit Cobras and Girl in a Coma, and the rest were done vigilante-style in a Chevy Astro.

See ya here at 7pm sharp!

Silver Lake Jubilee is this Saturday & Sunday!

For those who don't know, this weekend is the second annual Silver Lake Jubilee festival and we couldn't be more excited! Last year year was such a great time...and what an amazing energy. So friendly and lively. We're sure this year will be just as fun!

FYI...we will be closed both days to take part in this awesome festival.

Origami Vinyl has been quite busy getting ready for this years event. Not only has our very own Neil Schield been putting together a mighty selection of local bands to appear on the Santa Monica stage (incredible lineup to be viewed below)...but we will also be doing a sweet little Origami Pop-Up Shop and handling all the merch for the event. So if you're looking for that one band you saw at whatever time on whatever stage...well we are the ones to talk to. Plus you get to dig through a hand-picked selection of the rad wax we carry in the store. Come by and check us out...and then check out the shop.

For more info on the event just keep scrolling below (or click the Jubilee link above)

Here is an overhead view of where the fun will live.

BR'ER & SCALLION in-store + MAN MAN "Life Fantastic" listening party + ORIGAMI PRESENTS: THE BIXBY KNOLLS Residency TONIGHT!!!

It's Monday, May 9th and we've got a fantastic show(s) for you this evening...

Kicking off our night are two fantastic artists from Philadelphia coming through...BR'ER + SCALLION. Both acts play quirky & somber music reminiscent of sayyyyyy The Magnetic Fields or Tunng or something else. They were sent our way by some kids in Idaho (yeah...I don't know either?) but we've heard nothing but good things! They hit the loft at 6pm.

(sweet tour poster!)

After that sweet start, move on over with us to The Echo patio at 9pm where we will be celebrating the release of the flamboyantly vaudevillian MAN MAN's new LP "Life Fantastic", out on Anti-. (Also from Philadelphia...what's with that?)
(Man Man "Life Fantastic")

MAN MAN's latest is another chaotic & careening ride through the same dark waters as their previous records but this time finds them trading some of that energy for darker & moodier moments. The album sounds more focused, no doubt in part as much to the bands growth as it is to Mike Mogis' production. We'll be spinning this fantastic album all the way through starting at 10pm. And as always your Origami homies will be spinning fine ass jams for your spank bank from 9pm until 1am.

Also tonight at The Echo, Origami Vinyl presents THE BIXBY KNOLLS as they kick off their May residency. Joined by BOWERY BEASTS & STEVENSON RANCH DAVIDIANS, this is the start of a month sure to be full of some fine power pop & arena rock jams.

Toodles!

Fleet Foxes "Helplessness Blues" Premiere Party TONIGHT

TONIGHT we premiere the new Fleet Foxes LP, "Helplessness Blues" at El Prado @ 10pm!!

Is it safe to say that this could be the most eagerly anticipated sophomore release of 2011? The band has been on a crazy upwards trajectory ever since their self-titled debut dropped on Sub Pop in 2008.

We are excited to bring you a complete advance listen of the album and the ability to purchase it the night before it comes out.

This event will actually be taking place at El Prado instead of The Echo. The bar has a very special beer called Cismontane Saison that they will tap just for this special event. There are a very limited amount of these kegs in existence and it is rated as one of the best beers around right now. you can read reviews HERE. This is the only keg El Prado will get, so lets kill it!

Here are the deets:
