Whitman, and his rusted and forlorn sound are really one of a kind. You can't tell his music is made with broken down instruments, scraps of metal and trashy guitars, but once you find out its all the more impressive. Whitman infuses his music with the essence of LA in the purest sense. You can taste the smog and imagine the vacant lots, and soiled mattresses on the sidewalks.
His new album Restoring Darkness comes out on Folktale Records December 30th, and is sure to be filled to the brim with all of the joy and brutality that we know and love in LA. His lyrics are sometimes painful, and so emotional that its impossible not to feel the disconnect Whitman is portraying. Don't let the pink towel and beach babes fool you, its about as deep as it gets.
