It's the second week of February. Which depending on a few factors, is either awesome or not so awesome. But no matter you circumstances, remember: OV WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU. So much that we made the cute little personal calendar of all the stuff we can do together this week. :3

NO Album Preview! Kera & The Lesbians @ The Echo!
Firstly, we're just gonna get out our insane excitement for the new NO record, El Prado. We were all at the album release party last week giggling like little schoolgirls and are super-duper stoked for its release next Tuesday! KCRW just uploaded a stream of the new album online and we're gonna have it on as much as we possibly can. Check it out here and come give Sean a high-five next time you see him in the shop (which better be soon, he's leaving on another huge tour soon!).
In other news, The Echo's monthly residents Kera & The Lesbians will be jamming away in the Echo tonight at 9PM! If you caught their set at OV's FOMO Fest earlier this year, you know they're going places soon, and with the release of their latest album Year 23 (Lolipop Records), Kera & co. are riding a wave of good vibes. So get to the Echo ASAP! If you want a sneak peek at tonight's show, check out single "Snakes" below!

New Releases, Pre-Orders & Rarities Oh My!
Is there really anything better than Tuesday new releases? We sure don't think so and one of Em's favorites this week is the new Afterhours LP Lowlife, out on Not Not Fun. As XLR8R notes, the electronic musician and radio DJ (he hosts a long-running 11-to-midnight radio show known as "Field Recordings of the Afterhours") takes much of his inspiration from the solitary atmosphere and melancholic mood of L.A's late-night/early morning hours. Check it out for yourself below!
If you're looking to the future, OV's got a slew of pre-orders going, including the new LP Lost In The Dream by The War on Drugs. The third album by these Philly natives, Lost In The Dream is ostensibly a tour record. Coming off the heels of 2011's Slave Ambient, The War on Drugs toured relentlessly, eventually becoming a bona fide rock ’n’roll band. That essence drives their newest LP, a 10-song set produced by Granduciel and longtime engineer Jeff Zeigler. Pre-Order now and guarantee your copy of the record on limited purple vinyl with a signed poster! Record ships on or before release date, 3/18/14. While you're waiting for your order to ship, give a listen to Lost In The Dream single "Red Eyes" below!
If you're looking for something a bit rarer, OV just snagged an awesome signed copy of Jeff The Brotherhood's tour only pressing of The Boys R Back In Town - #95 out of 300! It's up on our rarities wall and is in our online shop as well. We know you want it.

OV's Tote Bag Contest Ends Soon!
If you've been keeping up with Neil's updates, OV's been looking for a new tote bag design! We've loved our tote bags designed by Nathan Bell but we're running low. So we want your designs! We're closing in on a winner, so if you've got a design to submit, get it in stat!
You must incorporate our unicorn logo, "Origami Vinyl" and "Echo Park, Calif." in the design, but other than that you'e got free reign. Bags will be printed white on black. Winner gets their design on our bag and their own bag filled with OV Goodies! Please submit designs to highfive@origamiorigami.com as quickly as you can! If you need our logos, shoot us an email and we'll get them on over to ya. Gosh isn't merchandising fun?!

Failure or Hospitality? It's a Win-Win!
Tonight's a good night for music. A real good night you could say. For one, Failure has reunited and is playing a sold-out show at the El Rey! Emily and Neil have had the day circled in red on their calendars and probably won't be able to sleep the night before. If you were lucky enough to snag tickets, please attempt to capture their excitement on film.
For those of us with slower trigger fingers, OV fave Hospitality is playing a super intimate set inside The Echo tonight. They might not be alt-rock juggernauts, but damn, their new LP is quality - we can't keep 'em in stock for more than a couple days! Don't believe us? Just give a listen to Trouble's first single "I Miss Your Bones" below. Wanna catch the show for free? We've got two pairs of tickets to give away, so share today's post on Facebook, tag OV in the post, and they're yours!

THE BIG DAY (For Kick-Ass Music)!
In case you forgot, it's Valentine's Day (we're lifesavers aren't we?). While we won't pass judgment on the holiday, we will say it brings out the best in the L.A music scene. First off, we've got L.A locals Criminal Hygiene stopping by our loft at 7PM for a very special V-Day performance. But don't expect a set to slow dance with your honey - Criminal Hygiene's full-on assault is FIDLAR meets Hootenanny-era Replacements, not teddy bears & chocolates. Just try going cheek-to-cheek listening to "Rearrange Me" below. Yeah, thought so.
After that, there's a whole bevy of shows to make moves on, so check our faves below and get working on those Valentines (we suggest throwing them on stage with impassioned cries of affection for said band).
Touche Amore, mewithoutyou - Ukranian Cultural Center | $16
Spiritualized - The Theatre At Ace Hotel | $59
Tijuana Panthers, Cosmonauts - The Glass House | $12
John Talabot, Shit Robot - A Club Called Rhonda | $20

V-Day Hangover Cure: The Spires In-Store!
We just can't let V-Day have all the fun this week, so we've got Ventura natives The Spires in our loft tonight at 7PM! Their newest record, Eternal Yeah, continues their rock-solid mix of C-86, 90s indie rock and Flying Nun influences, putting forth 11 tracks that are just as cerebral as they are breezy. It's gonna be a sweet time and we hope you can make it! Check out single "Flames (You & I)" below!
Giveaways This Week!
Quilt @ Satellite 2/15 - 1 pair w/ purchase of new LP Held In Splendor
Hospitality @ The Echo 2/13 - 2 pairs
Keep an eye on our Twitter/Facebook to find out how to win!
Now that we've planned your week, we hope to see you out there! Also, we accept Valentines. If you are so inclined.
