TONIGHT: Cymbals Eat Guitars (solo) & Bad Weather California

Tonight @ Origami Vinyl! Two very cool performances by two very cool artists. The in-store will go down at 7pm, but show up early as it will probably get pretty packed...

First we have Bad Weather California out of Denver, Colorado. Following the motto, "THIS ISN'T NEXT LEVEL MUSIC, THIS IS STREET LEVEL MUSIC," BWC are a punk rock band that doesn't sound like one. The band draws from a solid group of influences - from The Velvet Underground, John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band to the Minutemen and Black Flag, creating a timeless and classic, yet forward-thinking and modern sound. Bad Weather California put out their latest release, Sunkissed last month on Family Tree Records complete with exquisite beach drenched africana punk anthems, ripping guitar, and street level lyrics. Tight!

Next we have a Cymbals Eat Guitars acoustic solo set with Joe from the band. Awesome!! Since self-releasing their critically-acclaimed debut Why There Are Mountains in 2009, CEG went through multiple lineup changes before touring the US and Europe with the likes of Bear in Heaven, Los Campesinos!, The Thermals, The Flaming Lips, The Hold Steady.

Having now learned to collaborate as a full band, they put out their follow-up, Lenses Alien, last year on Barsuk. The record is described as a "marriage of classic pop forms and ambient haze that makes for a stark, dusky psychedelia - striking a balance between the archaic and the inviting and is as much a document of doubts and contradictions as of irreverent joy." Come see what all the hype is all about with BAD WEATHER CALIFORNIA and JOE from CYMBALS EAT GUITARS tonight at 7pm!! It'll be a good one, I promise.
