OV WEEKLY: Spring Has Sprung?

So it's almost March, which has us thinking that Spring is here. But we might be way off base on that. We're just looking forward to the plethora of Spring-related puns we can make! While we try and figure out a way to use "bloom," "spring" and "flowering" in every blog post for the next few months, why not take a peek at this week's party at Origami!

Where Have All The Residencies Gone?

Because it's the last week of the month, that means that tonight is the last night for The Echo's wonderful set of February residencies!

After presenting last week's Kan Wakan set at the The Echo, OV highly recommends you check out their last night at The Echo before you have to pony up to see this awesome group. Last November we were very fortunate to have them perform an intimate set in the loft and they also rocked our socks off at FOMO Fest earlier this year. Tonight's opening act is another OV fave, Big Black Delta, and we're sure the "special guest" is going to be well worth your attendance. So lose those Monday blues and get down to The Echo tonight at 7:30PM!

Finally, The Echo's monthly residents Kera & The Lesbians will be jamming away in the Echo tonight at 9PM! Another FOMO Fest vet, Kera & co. are going places soon, and with the release of their latest album Year 23 (Lolipop Records), the band's riding a wave of good vibes. If you want a sneak peek at tonight's show, check out single "Snakes" below!

James Supercave EP Premiere Party @ Record Club!

It's Tuesday, and that means your weekly installment of Record Club is just around the corner! While the party gets going at 9PM as always, this week we're going to be having a special appearance from L.A locals James Supercave! Straight out of Echo Park, this art-rock quintet has been getting plenty of buzz around L.A for their exhilarating live shows, garnering a coveted opening slot on Superhumanoids' west coast tour. Now back home, they'll be stopping by Record Club at 10:30PM to spin their newest EP The Afternoon live in El Prado and we're totally stoked to hear the band's first physical release! To give us a sneak preview of what The Afternoon will entail, the band recently released their first single, "The Right Thing" and it's full of fresh ideas and beautiful vocals. Give it a listen below and we'll see you tonight at 9PM!

Don't Worry, We Didn't Forget New Releases!

In all our excitement about Tuesday's Record Club, I bet you thought we forgot about this week's new releases, didn't you? Well we didn't, and this week is a doozy. First off, we're sure you know that both Beck's Morning Phase and St. Vincent's S/T come out today, and we're sure you're salivating over the thought. We have too, and we've been looking forward to grabbing these two records for months. We'll have both in-store, but you might wanna get here early, as they're sure to sell out quick!

If you're looking for something different, OV's been digging a new punk compilation that we just got from Soul Jazz Records tracing the rise UK punk in the late 70s and it's morphing into 80s British post-punk. It's got a bunch of underground gems and is the perfect release for the neophyte or the crate digging expert. Come on in and grab it, or check it out in our online shop!
