So the time changes and then all of a sudden its summer weather in L.A? Props to Mother Nature for that convenient change, now we have time to spin records and get our tan on! We suggest you do the same and come on down to Origami this week while the sun lasts!
Dead Ghosts In-Store! OV Presents Moses Sumney @ The Bootleg! Tony Molina @ The Echo!
Today's a doozy by OV standards, as we've got our eyes on three sets of music coming your way throughout the afternoon and night. Check 'em all out below!
First off, tonight at 6PM, we've got an awesome set from Dead Ghosts lined up! An OV favorite for a while now, their newest record, Can't Get No (Burger Records), was one of our favorite records of 2013 and is the perfect soundtrack for too-hot March nights. Featuring fuzzed out vocals and plenty of 60s garage influences, the band syncs up with just about any punk rock activity you can think of and we hope you can stop by to engage in some with us tonight at 6! In the meantime, give a listen to their track "Summer With Phil" below!
Next up, Origami is super-stoked to be presenting rising L.A singer-songwriter Moses Sumney at the Bootleg Theatre every Monday in March! A UCLA alum, Moses' craft is a intoxicating mix of soul and folk arranged around liquid guitar lines and unique looped arrangements. Popping up as a special guest for many soon-to-be-big bands, Moses has been receiving glowing reviews across the board without a single physical release to his name, and looks to be moving up in the L.A music world. With talent to spare, Moses' residency at the Bootleg is sure to be a breakout success and we look forward to seeing him and you there every Monday this March! Give a listen to a live performance of "Replaceable" and we'll see you tonight at 9PM!
In case that wasn't enough, tonight at The Echo, the super-talented Tony Molina will be gracing the world with a face-melting solo set for FREE! If you haven't heard us gush about his latest album Dissed and Dismissed (which happens to be available for pre-order here), then just know that Tony's newest LP is a loving tribute to the 90s that takes Thin Lizzy leads, Radiohead lyrics, and Replacements sneer to their most absurd highs. It is an entirely unapologetic album that distills the best of the past in 12 less-than-a-minute bursts. We've been stoked on this show since it was announced and really hope to see you there at 8PM!

Slint Documentary Breadcrumb Trail @ Cinefamily! Record Club!
We love Slint. To the point where we can't say anything intelligent, especially in regards to Lance Bangs' newest documentary on the post-rock gods. So here's Cinefamily's preview of the show while we drool a little more:
Two definitive epochs mark underground rock of the last few decades: BS (Before Slint) and AS (After Slint). A staple of the Louisville, KY scene before their 1990 album Spiderland definitively laid down the gauntlet and provided a road map for untold scores of “post-rock” bands around the globe to follow, the short-lived but long-loved Slint has remained one of music fandom’s most mythical, sphinxlike bands — but Breadcrumb Trail, the brand-new documentary by Lance Bangs, now reveals the minds behind the life-changing music.
Wanna go? Breadcrumb Trail is playing at Cinefamily from today until Saturday! If you're at tonight's show, why not head on down to El Prado afterwards for a weekly dose of Record Club goodness? It'll be the perfect musical nightcap, we promise!
