OV WEEKLY: Time Marches On!

Just like the old adage says, March showers bring really good times at Origami Vinyl. Celebrate the return of sunshine and sanity to the local weather report with another week at OV! This 7-day forecast is chock full of awesomeness, so pay attention!

Monday, March 3rd (that's today!)
OV Presents Moses Sumney @ The Bootleg! James Supercave @ The Echo!

This month we've got our eyes set on two super residencies at the Bootleg & The Echo. Be sure to check 'em out all month long -- these bands won't be playing venues like this again!

First off, Origami is super-stoked to be presenting rising L.A singer-songwriter Moses Sumney at the Bootleg Theatre every Monday in March! A UCLA alum, Moses' craft is a intoxicating mix of soul and folk arranged around liquid guitar lines and unique looped arrangements. Popping up as a special guest for many soon-to-be-big bands, Moses has been receiving glowing reviews across the board without a single physical release to his name, and looks to be moving up in the L.A music world. With talent to spare, Moses' residency at the Bootleg is sure to be a breakout success and we look forward to seeing him and you there every Monday this March! Give a listen to a live performance of "Replaceable" and we'll see you tonight at 9PM!

Our other favorite thing about March is the new James Supercave residency at The Echo! Straight out of our home town, this art-rock quintet has been getting plenty of buzz around L.A for their exhilarating live shows, garnering a coveted opening slot on Superhumanoids' west coast tour. This buzz became physical when the band debuted their newest EP The Afternoon live last week at Record Club, and we have to say, we are very big fans. Now the headliners of this month's Monday Residency at The Echo, James Supercave are ready to show off their unique take on pop-rock tonight at 8:30PM! See you there!

Tuesday, March 4th
New Or Reissued, OV's Got You!

It doesn't look like February's barrage of awesome releases is letting up as we enter March, as this week features new releases from the the likes of The Men & Ava Luna alongside reissues of Johnny Cash's American Recordings series with Rick Rubin. The first of these, The Men's Tomorrow's Hits is still available for pre-order in our store and will certainly scratch that Americana-punk itch that last year's New Moon got started. In case you haven't heard (or just can't wait) for its release tomorrow, give a listen to lead single "Pearly Gates" below and snag the record Tuesday at OV!

Wednesday, March 5th
A Lovely Combo: Warm Soda & Big Tits In-Store @ 6PM!

Hailing from Oakland, Warm Soda knows how to combine elements of power pop, glam, and garage rock into what has been described as "punky-pop perfection." We're excited these guys are coming down to join us for the night alongside their rowdy friends Big Tits in what is sure to be a wild night of music! If anything, we're just looking forward to telling our friends how much we enjoyed Warm Soda & Big Tits last night. Because we are literally 12 years old. You can giggle with us tonight at 6!

Thursday, March 6th
OV + Church On York Tickets!

Because we just can't bear telling you no, starting this week, OV will be selling tickets to all Church On York shows! This brand new venue in Highland Park has some killer acts coming up, and we're glad to get you tickets to all of them! First up is Cherry Glazerr & OV fave Froth Friday @ 8PM, so you better get down here this week and pick up some tickets!

Friday, March 7th
Rainbow Jackson In-Store!

In case you need some music to get your weekend started (who doesn't?), OV's got Rainbow Jackson performing in-store tonight at 7PM! These Echo Park friends and housemates have been tweaking the rules of power-punk for a while now, mixing it with elements of straight up rock and roll and a bit of DIY garage rock. Recalling carefree summer nights and old school cruiser classics, these scuzzed-up rockers are sure to shake up the OV loft tonight, so don't miss it!

Saturday, March 8th
NO @ The Troubadour Is Almost Sold Out!

We know we can't shut up about NO, but we just want to make sure you get your tickets to see them at the Troubadour this Saturday! Tickets are almost sold out online, so OV's your best bet to snag a spot for Saturday's show! But we've only got so many, so you better get here soon if you wanna see Stenzie go full-rockstar on ya. Tickets are $14 and cash only.

Giveaways This Week!
Casket Girls @ The Echo 3/6 - 2 pairs (w/ purchase of True Love Kills the Fairly Tale)!

Real Estate @ The Fonda 3/11 - 1 pair (w/ purchase of Atlas)!

Now that we've planned your week, you better be here or we will all pout. Which is no fun for anyone.
