Now we know "Dylan in the 80s" might be the best way to elicit cringes from Dylan fans, but for some Dylan-ites, the singer-songwriter's flirtation with new styles in his "lost" decade represent a hotbed of forgotten gems. Headed by producers Jesse Lauter (Elvis Perkins, The Low Anthem) and Sean O’Brien (Dawes, PAPA), the mission of Bob Dylan In The 80s: Volume One is to shed new light on this large cache of songs and ideas Dylan explored in this period. Featuring covers by a wide range of alt stars including Built To Spill, Aaron Freeman of Ween, Glen Hansard, Reggie Watts, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and more, this newest compilation from ATO is sure to open a new page in Dylan lore and we couldn't be more excited to play it for you a week before its release!
So come on down this Tuesday at 7PM for a great night of music and rediscovery, because we totally know you haven't ever taken Saved seriously. As always, pizza and drink will be had all round, and as a special treat, we'll be slinging some Dylan later in the night at Record Club. It's gonna be a great evening and we really hope to see you there! For a sneak peek of Tuesday's preview (yes a preview of a preview), give a listen to Built To Spill's cover of "Jokerman" below! See you soon!
