This Coming Week @ OV!!

Monday, October 21st 
 - 8:00pm :: William Onyeabor "Who is William Onyeabor?" Premiere Party @ OV

Given the album art of this latest Luaka Bop release, your first answer might be a used-car salesman or Anchorman extra. And really, you might be right, for all we know about the man behind this 3xLP compilation is that its electro-funk basis consists of some of the best West African music of the 70s and 80s. His sound is epitomized by ear-worming synth grooves and lyrics that are often as epic in scale as they are in toe-tappingness. Needless to say, we are stoked to be hosting a premiere party of this groundbreaking compilation tonight at 7PM, a whole week before its release! An early peak at good music plus pizza and beverages means you have no reason not be here Monday!

Head across the street with us to El Prado where every week peeps sign up to share their favorite LPs and we spin them! You can also get signed up for the following week's Record Club if you wanna participate. It's super easy-going and we buy you a beer of a glass of wine for gettin' down with us!

Friday, October 25th

Self-described as New Mexican Space Music, this folk rock band will have you packing your bags for Joshua Tree or Big Sur with their blend of complex harmonies, layered melodies, and experimental rhythms.
 


Sunday, October 27th
- 7:00pm :: Love Inks @ OV. Free, All Ages

Branding themselves as "minimalist pop," Love Inks toes the line between chill-wave and surf-rock, sounding somewhere between Summer Camp's nostalgia overload and the poppier moments of a Those Darlins album.



 - 8:00pm :: Midlake "Antiphon" Premiere Party @ OV. Free! +Pizza and drinks!

We're premiering Midlake's new album. Check out how they describe it: "Antiphon we wanted to embrace the psychedelia, style and nuance you might hear in bands from yesteryear while also being aware of music influences leading up to and present now.  The result was less folk and more rock. Less nostalgic and more progressive. " As usual, we'll have pizza and drinks and some rad giveaways!
