Tuesday we have a very special edition of Record Club @ El Prado as we will be premiering Cate Le Bon's new album Mug Museum at 9PM!
Beginning her career in her native Wales, Cate Le Bon released her first album Oh Me Oh My in 2009, signalling both her entrance into the Welsh rock landscape and the larger UK consciousness. After touring with fellow Welsh singer Gruff Rhys, she released her second album Cyrk in 2012, garnering positive reviews for her movement towards Krautrock inspired hooks that called to mind Stereolab even as her vocals mined the folky side of Nico. Mug Museum, her newest album from Turnstile looks to continue that trend, exploring darker themes of death and God even amongst her lilting vocals and strong hooks. We at Origami are very excited for her new record and are stoked that we'll be able to share it with you this Tuesday at 9PM!
Besides the excitement of premiering an awesome new release, we will also be giving away a signed test pressing of her new album along with the usual Record Club festivities. If you're interested in spinning some records yourself, come on by the shop and sign up before it's too late!
In the meantime, give a listen to lead single "I Think I Knew" ft. Perfume Genius off of Mug Museum below. See you Tuesday at 9!
